A REQUEST: Evaluating the Effectiveness of EARTH 105
In order to devote all of the resources necessary to develop the Web-based materials for EARTH 105, additional funding was secured from the National Science Foundation (NSF). In return for their support, part of our responsibilities to NSF include evaluating the effectiveness of the course. Therefore, we have created five evaluation instruments that are part of EARTH 105, including
- An Initial Course Survey to help us to better understand your expections for the course,
- An EARTH 105 "pre-test" (non-graded!) to get a sense of what you already know about Africa and the geosciences,
- A Mid-course Survey to give us feedback on how well the course is going for you at mid-semester,
- An End-of-course Survey to give us feedback on what we did well and what we could have done better, and
- An EARTH 105 "post-test" (non-graded) to get a sense of how much you learned in the course and your perceptions of Africa and the geosciences upon completion of the course.
We are hoping you will help us in this evaluation effort by completing each of these instruments this semester. If you complete all five, an extra 3 points will be added to your course grade!
Please indicate your willingness, or refusal, to participate by reviewing the Informed Consent Form on the Web page in ANGEL titled "Evaluating the Effectiveness of EARTH 105 - The Informed Consent Form". Thank you!
