Wind Analysis Sequence

This side-by-side presentation of wind analyses allows the reader to understand the dramatic change in surface wind speed velocity and distribution.  At landfall (1930Z) the strongest winds were southwesterly in excess of 123 knots and distributed around the Charley's right side.  The analysis from 2032Z shows how Charley's overall surface wind field has been diminished by the friction associated with landfall.  At this time the strongest surface winds were located on the waters of Charlotte Harbor -- not surprising considering the difference in friction between land and water.
