View Tips

Switch to "No Frames"

To get the most "screen real estate," we strongly encourage you to use the "No Frames" option in ANGEL (if you haven't done so already). This will eliminate the left-hand ANGEL menu bar, leaving more viewing space for the course content. You will still have all of the functionality you need within the course. To switch to "no frames," click on the "Display Options " link in the left-hand menu bar, then select "No Frames."

Browser

This site is best viewed through a graphical Web browser, such as Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer. Your browser should support the display of tables, frames, JavaScript, cookies, and Java. You will also need to use Adobe's Acrobate Reader in order to the course content. A diagnostics page has been developed to help you figure out if your computer and browser are configured properly. Please check that page for up-to-date information regarding the technical specifications necessary to participate in course activities.

Site navigation

Always use the navigational buttons or links on the pages themselves instead of the buttons on your browser. This will ensure consistent display of pages within this Web site.

"Autoloading" images

Many graphical browsers allow you to turn "off" the automatic loading of images (which makes downloading faster). We recommend that you DO automatically load images when working through this course. Many of the images we've used, such as the navigation icons, are necessary components of the site.

Window size

Course Web pages have been designed for the width of a 14-inch, color monitor. For optimum viewing, make sure to "stretch" your browser window to the full width of your screen so that you can easily view all of the important graphics that will be displayed.

New windows

Please keep in mind that links to external sites and course tools open in a new window. (This window will be offset from the main browser window.) To continue with the course, simply close the new window when you have finished viewing the content.

Font/size selection

Most of the popular Web browsers allow you to select the kind, and size, of typeface ("font") that you want to be used when viewing Web pages. First and foremost, choose a font style and size that is easy on your eyes. If you need help making a selection, check out our side-by-side comparison of text styles!

Printing Course Pages

Switching to the "No Frames" version in ANGEL eliminates the left-hand ANGEL menu bar, however, the top navigation frame remains. To print just the course pages and NOT the top navigation frame, first be sure to select the course page frame by clicking somewhere within the page. Now, when you select "Print," look for a "Print Frames Option" within the Print dialog box. (Mozilla includes this right up front, Internet Explorer uses the Options tab.) Choose "Only the selected frame" and then "Print."
