Lesson 0: Orientation

Technical Requirements

We have audio and video material in many of the lessons in this course. The video is in the Quicktime movie format (.mov) and the audio recordings are mp3 files. Chances are pretty good that you already use a Web browser that is configured to open up a Quicktime movie and play mp3 files.

Links to audio and video clips are provided below so that you can quickly determine whether your computer can play the multimedia for this course. Clicking on the links below should automatically open the appropriate player (Windows Media Player or Quicktime), load the file (may take a few seconds), and then begin playing the audio/video.

If these files run smoothly for you, then you're ready to go. If you can't get ANY of the files below to play on your computer—then please refer to the steps at the bottom of this page to troubleshoot your problem.

Having Trouble? Troubleshooting Tips...

  • Step 1: Install a New Plugin. If you are not able to play the files, start by installing (or re-installing) the Quicktime or Windows Media Player plug-ins. The links here will take you to the respective download sites (and their accompanying directions.)
  • Step 2: Check the "Help Center." If Step 1 didn't work, and you're still not able to play any of the files, visit the ANGEL Help and Information Guide, and search the existing posts to see if you can find assistance there. Maybe someone else is having this trouble too!
  • Step 3: Request Help. If you've still not had any success, then its time for you to contact the ANGEL Support (these requests are monitored daily). You could also contact one of the PSU Help Desks (865-1073) and have one of their experts walk you through the process.
  • Emergency Option: PSU Computer Labs. One option *always* available to you are the PSU computer labs—their computers run quite nicely with ANGEL and with this course, so technically speaking, you are never without a computer for this course. Sure, staying at home is nice, but if you have an online deadline to meet, it is your responsibility to get to a computer that works.
