Overview
In this unit you will explore the source and exploration of natural resources in Africa. We will focus the discussion primarily on the two resources that cause the most conflict: oil and diamonds.
Learning Objectives
By the end of Lesson 11, successful students will be able to:
- Define oil and explain how it forms.
- Describe Africa's relationship to oil in the countries of Sudan and Nigeria.
- Define diamonds and explain how they form.
- Explain why some of Africa's diamonds are referred to as conflict diamonds.
Reading Assignment from e-Reserves
