Summary and Final Tasks

Lessons 13 and 14 constituted the capstone exercise. You served as a member of governmental, IGO, or NGO humanitarian aid team responding to a natural disaster in the complex emergency environment of Atlantica. The capstone exercise gave you the opportunity to:

  • Work as a member of a team.
  • Use higher or and critical thinking skills to conduct analysis.
  • Conduct humanitarian negotiations in a complex emergency.
  • Conduct crisis communication activities by interacting with the press.
  • Demonstrate your ability to produce reports and briefings.
  • Produce an after action review that identifies lessons learned.
  • Synthesize and apply the knowledge of all previous lessons.
